Here I am 40 weeks pregnant with Brinley!

Here I am 40 weeks pregnant with Keeley. Although I only gained 8 less pounds with Brinley I sure looks like alot more than that.

Okay so bear with me this might get lengthy, but then again it was lengthy at the time as well.
It all started on
Monday April 26 when I went into the doctors. I had been dilated to a 3 for weeks and was full term so they stripped my membranes and with the hope I would be in labor that evening I began walking. Jackie, Karen and I did a little shopping and some walking at the mall as well as at Sam's Club in hopes to get this baby out. That evening when Matt got home I was having contractions 4-7 minutes apart but they weren't that strong. I hoped that if I went into the hospital they would admit me if I was dilated to a four. So we dropped Keeley at Karen's and headed to the hospital.
I was there for several hours they monitored my contractions and checked and I was a 4. After calling my doctors they decided to send me home and said "Your in labor we will probably see you in the morning. Your right on the border of staying tonight." So home I went.
Tuesday April 27 I woke up and was determined this baby would come today. I went back into the doctors, they wanted to check me again first thing. I was still a 4 and 90% effaced. Dr. Davis said "This baby will be here soon I can feel her hair."
I can't remember what we did that day all I know is that it involved walking, Karen and Jackie. That afternoon Karen and I ran a few laps at the cemetery by her house. The contractions never stopped all day and by the time we were done with the laps they were starting to have some strength behind them. Given I was a 4 that morning and contractions were between 3-6 minutes apart Matt and I decided to go in again. This time the doctor was even on the floor. I was a 5 when they checked me but my contractions were not showing any more strength than the night before. So, while the doctor delivered a baby I walked for an hour Matt. After an hour of walking I they hooked me back up to the monitors and the contractions had gotten further apart. I was bitter to say the least. When the doctor came in to send me home I was in tears. It was already after 11:00 and we picked Keeley up from Jackie's.
On another note, over the previous three days my car had begun to smell like sulfur. When I got to the hospital that night it was making me nauseous. After I parked in our garage that evening it started to even fill with house with that awful spell. It was making me sick as I laid unable to sleep do to contractions on the couch. I got up about 1am to move the car to the driveway and it wouldn't start. Perfect!
Wednesday April 28 By today I was bitter at the world, tired and determined I would end up having contractions for a week before they would do anything like break my water. We started the morning by calling to have the car towed. Then I drove Matt to work with the car. Note to husbands with short pregnant wives- WE CANT DRIVE STICK PREGNANT. I could barely push the clutch in and had to press my belly into the wheel everytime I shifted. I laid on the couch in some serious pain most of the morning. At noon I went to Jackie's. Jackie and Karen had planned a Meg pamper day for me. We ate food! They got me route 44 Coke! and Jackie gave me a pedicure! It really did help to get my mind off of things. That afternoon the contractions were so strong I was crying through them. But don't forget I dropped Matt off at work so here I am contractions every 3 minutes and bawling driving to pick him up. Fun! Karen made my favorites for dinner so we headed over there to eat. I think I may have traumatized her children that evening (sorry Popes you may never get grandchildren).
Matt and our home teacher gave me a blessing that evening and we decided to go try it again. Yes they kept me! I was a 6 and that is why. My contractions according to the monitor were half as strong as they were the first night. Which tells me that those monitors were not reading my contractions accurately because I let me tell you they were not half as strong.
Once they admitted me everything went really smooth. Okay let me rephrase once I got my epidural everything went really smooth. We had to wait a little while for the anesthesiologist and once they get you trapped in those beds they won't let you get up which wasn't comfortable with as strong as my contractions were. The doctor told the nurse as I was dialiated to a 10 and they were prepping me to push that if he was to look at the monitor he wouldn't say I was in labor. Don't worry I reassured him I was in labor! Thirty minutes later we had little Brinley.
There is nothing like holding a new baby in your arms. Nine months of pregnancy, three days of labor and with in minutes all that pain is forgotten as you see this beautiful baby. I would do it all again in a heart beat. You would too if you could hold baby B.
